RL Grime’s iconic album NOVA gets a clean instrumental version released for fans to listen to in a whole new way on NOVA Pure.

RL Grime (real name Henry Steinway) just released the instrumental edition of his sophomore album NOVA, titled NOVA Pure. The instrumental edit is smooth and “pure” therefore fans can revisit the fifteen track LP to listen in a fresh, new way. NOVA had already received critical acclaim and consequently amassed two official volumes worth of remixes.

Released today, NOVA Pure features classics like “I Wanna Know”, “UCLA” and “Light Me Up” receive the instrumental treatment, allowing the melody itself to be the focal point in the track. A listen through of the instrumental allows listeners to derive a different meaning, subsequently one that’s more in tune with their imagination.

The original inspiration of the album was to reflect his mental state between 2015-2017, and the tracks follow a train of emotions, coming together to represent personal advancement. As a result, NOVA symbolizes his internal growth as an artist in a fast-paced, highly demanding industry and we appreciate being able to hear these tracks in their stripped down form.

“i spent a lot of 2015-2017 depressed, anxious and unmotivated. the music i was making for NOVA reflected that; it felt melancholy, but still hopeful. this album was made during a period in my life of growing up and learning how to deal with sadness, and overwhelming stress.”
