Haywyre returns after his two-year hiatus with the masterfully crafted, six-track Panorama: Discover EP that is a must-listen!
Martin Vogt, better known as Haywyre, has remained fairly lowkey since the release of the Two Fold Part 2 EP in 2016, but he is back! Fans received a taste of Panorama: Discover EP with the release of singles “Tell Me” and “Storyteller,” and can now listen to the entire six-track release in all its glory. To no surprise, the Panorama: Discover EP takes you across the entire sonic spectrum with the only limitation being your own imagination.
“In a sense, this [Panorama: Discover] is as personal as it gets. I drew from everything I could. Moments of excitement, love, discovery, realization, connection, but also fear, insecurity, depression and disgust. I wanted the full spectrum. In another sense, it couldn’t be less personal, because Im avoiding the literal personal accounts that drove me to create this in the first place. I don’t want people hearing my story, I want people hearing their story in my music.

The first tune off Panorama: Discover is “Stepping Stones” which sets the stage for what’s to come.
A true intro, “Stepping Stones” sparks interest from the first beat and builds up into a groovy climax before seamlessly transitioning into “Tell Me”. Wrapping up at just under two minutes “Stepping Stones” is just long enough grasp your attention before getting right into the funky, voice-box driven, “Tell Me”.
After a substantial hiatus, it makes sense the first major lyrics from the EP are “tell me what’s on your mind”. “Tell Me” is quick to get your body moving; the voice box gives it a familiar vibe but in true Haywyre fashion the piano solos, breaks, and pitch bends dominate the core of the track.
“Storyteller” starts off much smoother but quickly develops into a hard-hitting future bass track. As Haywyre mentioned, “I don’t want people hearing my story, I want people hearing their story in my music”, and this track totally embodies that vision. Each time I listen to it I create a new video in my head depending on the environment I’m in. Whether listening to it in the car, at home, or en route to a show, there is not a bad time to tune in for this track.
“Square One” is my personal favorite off the EP and immediately roped me in with its catchy percussion and vibey synths.
There is something extremely special about Haywyre’s ability to blend classical piano elements with electro synths and experimental bass sounds. The track takes you from bobbing your head along with the beat to high energy dancing to dreamy piano melodies all within five minutes. Every track on Panorama: Discover is fantastic but “Square One” really does it for me. It’s the whole package when it comes to a Haywyre production and I bet it’s going to be even crazier when I catch it live.
The six-track release rounds out with “Context, Pt. 1” and “Blind Faith”.
Just as “Stepping Stones” perfectly intros the album, “Blind Faith” gracefully provides an outro to the Panorama: Discover experience. An instrumental that exemplifies Haywyre’s skill as a pianist “Blind Faith” guides your ears to a peaceful and calm listening stop. It is the audio equivalent of the scrolling credits at the end movie, just way more beautiful.
The Panorama: Discover EP was a warm way to welcome fans back into the world of Haywyre.
There was no doubt in my mind it would be this good, but I really enjoyed how wholesome and connected each track is as they flowed seamlessly and created a unique listening experience. He wanted to take us on a journey and he truly accomplished his goal. From the funky beats and high-energy drops to his insane piano skills, I am so happy to hear new music from him. After our first taste of the Panorama project, I cannot wait to see what is yet to come from Haywyre.
