Ripless Releases Video Game Inspired ‘Division’ EP

Drawing inspiration from the video game of the same name, Ripless has given listeners a solid EP with the release of Division.

Earlier this year, we stumbled upon a remix of Ookay’s hit track “Thief” by Ripless that blew us away. He double downed on the remix front with a stellar take on RL Grime‘s “I Wanna Know”, which left us aching to hear more from his studio, and now that day has come. Officially released on November 2, he has delivered a fresh EP for your listening pleasure dubbed Division.

Featuring three tracks in total, the Division EP takes inspiration from the video game of the same name. Looking to recreate the feelings that come with the hurdles players of the game face as they immerse themselves in the digital world, Ripless has shined brightly as he takes listeners on a journey that begins with “Burn Up”. Acting as the intro, the track features a cinematic vibe that leads perfectly into “Halinoise”, which brings through a variety of emotions ranging from anger to loneliness by toying with soundscapes that usher you along your path.

Of course, all good stories have an end and this EP is no different as it closes out with “New Era”, which provides a solid, uplifting look at the future. If this EP is evidence of what’s to come from Ripless in the future, I can’t wait to see how he continues to hone his skills in the studio and develop as an artist.

Stream the Division EP on your favorite platform, and let us know what you think in the comments!

“This EP was inspired by one of my favorite video games I’ve ever experienced; “The Division”. In this game, you get to see how a whole society burns out without no one expecting it. You get to see how fragile we really are and how easily everything could collapse, facing then one of our biggest fears, start everything from scratch. I was (and I still am) so obsessed with this game and the whole idea, and I got to experience it to the fullest. I got to the point where I found myself so immersed into the game, that I was feeling the despair myself, I was a part of it. With this EP, I wanted to recreate exactly this story, where everything is burned up and there’s only one way out; fighting for what you want.”
