In honor of Excision’s latest album release Apex, we’re throwing it back to a legendary collaboration with Liquid Stranger, “Get To The Point”.
Combining the worlds of old-school dubstep and mystical dark bass, Excision and Liquid Stranger came together for one of several riveting collaborations. Released in 2009, “Get To The Point” is one of my all-time favorite tunes from either of these two uber-talented bass pioneers. Complete with ominous chimes and low-down wobbles, this is one track I’ll never get enough of.
With a bone-splintering clash of metallic snare and shredded bass kicks, “Get To The Point” is a bass face inducing masterpiece, encompassing everything we hold so dear about 2008-2009 dubstep. It reminds us of a time when dubstep was less about the loudest drops and more about the artistry and unique sound design. Though we might be past the era of this kind of dubstep, we still have so many old-school tunes to reminisce about, with “Get To The Point” being one of our favorites.
Just recently, Excision released his highly anticipated album Apex, complete with bangers we’ve heard in some of our favorite heavy bass sets. In just a few weeks, Excision will be bringing these new tunes to Bass Canyon. Liquid Stranger will also be performing at the festival, showcasing some unreleased heat and his addictive dark experimental bass. Soon after, Legend Valley in Ohio will host the dinosaur-infested Lost Lands; though Liquid Stranger is absent from this lineup, we have a feeling some weird and wonderful Wakaan goodness is heading our way in the near future.
