Those of us who couldn’t get enough of Awake are in for a treat – Illenium just delivered fifteen incredible remixes of all our favorite tracks from the album!

Just when I thought Awake couldn’t get any better, Illenium gives us a mind-blowing remix package filled with some amazing takes on the tracks within his sophomore album. From heavy dubstep to euphoric future bass, the Awake remix package is expansive when it comes to genres but each and every song stays true to the emotion that Illenium curated in his originals.

While some tracks like The Glitch Mob’s deep and dirty remix of “Crawl Outta Love” and 1788-L, Said The Sky, Kerli, and Illenium’s VIP mix “Sound of Walking Away” were released early, most of the tracks just dropped yesterday with the remix package. It’s hard to pick favorites amongst so much talent, but I have to say I’m absolutely loving the Kompany remix of “Free Fall” and Felix Cartel’s take on “Taking Me Higher”. Listen to the full release below and read on for my take on some of the best remixes that were released!

The original version of “Free Fall” is a lighthearted, euphoric future bass track, so I expected something somewhat similar in the remix from Kompany.

The Kompany remix begins much as anticipated, but as it begins to build towards the drop you realize this is no future bass track. He hits you hard with a heavy and oh so pleasing dubstep drop, taking your ‘free fall’ to a whole new level. The second drop is even better with wobbly bass shooting out from all angles.

Felix Cartel is a perfect artist to remix Illenium in my eyes, and he delivered just as I expected he would.

His spin on “Taking Me Higher” is upbeat and sure to put a smile on your face, its quick house beat speeding up the original and getting you moving and grooving. He brings in an amazing melody in the bassline for the drop, complementing the tune of the vocals beautifully.

Some other highlights include Yoste‘s atmospheric, heavenly remix of “No Time Like Now” and Jason Ross’ progressive house remix of “Needed You”.

The Crystal Skies euphoric spin on “Never Let You Go” will have you in your feels as well without a doubt. Illenium truly picked a stellar group of remixes for Awake, each one just as captivating as the last. These artists brought refreshing new takes on tracks that many of us have listened to hundreds of times – we couldn’t be happier with them!
