About Mark Farina:
Originally from Chicago, Illinois but currently hailing from Dallas, Texas, Mark Farina has been a staple of the house music scene for nearly 30 years. His foray into the scene began in 1988 when he befriended house legend Derrick Carter in a record store in Chicago.
Mark’s initial style of music focused on more purist forms of dance music such as house, disco, and jazz, but Farina quickly found himself breaking ground into a new, unexplored avenues of dance music: Mushroom Jazz. Having performed at festivals such as BPM, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, and Sonic Bloom and with artists like Gramatik and Thievery Corporation, Farina is no stranger to the big stage.
His trademark style of music, “Mushroom Jazz,” is a mix of acid jazz infused with urban beats and West Coast jazzy, organic productions. The downtempo, soulful music has proven to be a smashing success on dance floors across the world. Farina earned his first No. 1 rating on Billboards Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart with Mushroom Jazz Eight. Farina has also been named a top DJ by URB, MUZIK, and BPM Magazines.
