SLANDER and YOOKiE took me by surprise with this feel-good collab “One Life,” and I’m absolutely loving it!
When I saw the names SLANDER and YOOKiE together, I excitedly braced myself for an insane bass-heavy banger like their previous collab “After All,” but I was pleasantly surprised with the beautifully euphoric track “One Life”. Happy chords, a melodic trap drop, and Zach Sorgen’s elegant vocals all come together perfectly. The lyrics tell the passionate story of falling deeply in love and then pushing through to make a long-distance relationship work through it all.
The massive collab was released August 18 on Spinnin Records and is available on all streaming platforms. “One Life” was first thought up by YOOKiE, bass music masters out of New York, and then sent over to their friends, SLANDER, who worked their production expertise and recruited Zach Sorgen for the vocals. Anthony, one of the two members of YOOKiE, shared his thoughts on working with SLANDER on the track:
We thought SLANDER would be perfect collaboraters on this track because they are super talented and have been incredibly supportive of our music. We really like them as people and that is something we cherish
– Anthony of YOOKiE
SLANDER just wrapped up their successful one-day festival Gud Vibrations with their best friend NGHTMRE, where they first premiered “One Life” for all 10,000 people to hear. The Los Angeles-based duo is on a roll this week, releasing their remix of Major Lazer’s “Know No Better” just a day prior to “One Life.” SLANDER shows their softer side with both of these new tracks, going along nicely with their heaven trap genre that many have grown to love. Maybe some bass is coming for us next!
