After announcing his retirement from touring and doing shows, Avicii releases information on his new EP Avīci out this month.
One of the most shocking moments of 2016 was Avicii announcing his retirement from tours and shows. Before that statement though, many of his shows had already been canceled due to the health issues he faced. He left a heartfelt note thanking numerous people and fans for their support over the years, and that he would continue to pursue music from the studio.
Since the announcement, Avicii has been working on new music and recovering from the music scene. From his Facebook posts, he did quite a bit of traveling and building a recording studio in a Tuscan vineyard. Despite the departure from the music scene, he continued his LE7ELS podcast on iTunes monthly for his fans. In his departure letter, he stated, “I will however never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it.”
Avicii posted a video announcing his new EP, Avīci, will be released globally on August 10.
In the video above, we see glimpses of music inside and outside of the studio. It also showcases a personal touch with his new music, such as when he plays guitar on a new track. Towards the end of the video, you can also hear a sample of the unreleased track, “Without You”.
