Meet Armada Music’s most recent rising artist, Nick Martin!
Hailing from the city of Athens in Greece, Nick Martin is ready to take on the 2017 music scene after signing with Armada Music earlier this year. He began his DJ career playing in clubs with his crates of vinyl before switching over to USBs in 2011. Once Nick got his first international DJ gig playing at the Marquee Las Vegas he could only get bigger and bigger. His first huge hit, “Red Lion”, received love from many artists in the scene. Since then he has been working with other artists such as Tigerlily and opening for The Chainsmokers on their European winter tour while also playing many gigs last summer in Ibiza. He most recently dropped a fresh tune “Shackles” featuring vocals from Natalola. Listen to it below and read on for our quick chat with Nick!

Your single “Shackles” was recently released by Armada Music, what’s the backstory on the summer melody and moving lyrics?
Summer is the time to feel good, to fall in love, explore and be free. Feels right and feels honest.
We loved Natalola’s vocals on the single. How was the collaboration with Natalola? Did you two work on vocals together or separately?
We worked together with the other writers and the song was recorded in Los Angeles at Westlake studios.
There is a paragraph of your thoughts on the video for the single on YouTube. What sparked these deep thoughts and can you share another with us?
Music sparks all my thoughts. I think it is important to have a message and feeling in a song and production.
Now that you have signed on with Armada Music, how did it feel to sign on to one of the biggest music labels in the world?
I feel at home at Armada Music. They are a great team and a versatile label centered in one of the most amazing music capitals in Europe.
Congrats on your recent tour with The Chainsmokers in Europe, what was that experience like?
It was an amazing experience and The Chainsmokers are truly great live. Ten sold out shows in as many days, huge crowds and great friends. I made a video about the tour which is now live on my Facebook!
Could we see a collaboration between you and The Chainsmokers in the future?
Everything is possible!
When did you decide that you wanted to make music for your career and why?
I grew up immersed in music and then started to DJ and produce. Music is in my blood and in my heart.
What is the music scene like in Greece? How does it compare to the rest of Europe?
It’s amazing and unique, especially in the summer. I recommend everyone spend July in Mykonos!
Finally, what is your favorite Greek dish? Anything we should try while visiting that others may not know about?
My favorite dish is Lavraki which is a Greek dish made with fresh Sea Bass. Greek food is always a wonderful experience.
