Has it really been a year already? Coachella is on the horizon yet again!
Seriously, I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun. It seems like just yesterday I was purchasing my Coachella 2017 pre-sale ticket. Since then the anticipation of the lineup has come and gone as Radiohead, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar were announced as headliners in January. Soon after the lineup’s release news of Beyoncé’s pregnancy arose and sent the online community (and fest community in general) into a frenzy. An official statement regarding her withdrawal as Saturday headliner followed shortly after and Lady Gaga was announced as the replacement. Like it or not that’s the way things are going down this year, but Coachella is about more than just the headliners. Right? Right!
Every year we see more electronic artists on the lineup and I’m not mad about it. The electronic scene has been growing at a steady rate for years so it’s only natural it permeates the festival circuit. There are just so many artists how do you even know who to see? Well, these are my top 10 electronic artists I think you should catch at this year’s Coachella!
Zach’s Top EDM Picks at Coachella 2017
GRYFFIN
GRYFFIN brings an energy to the stage unlike anyone else. What’s even more impressive is that he rocks out on the guitar and piano and mixes everything live! His newest collaboration with Illenium “Feel Good” feat. Daya is amazing. He also recently worked with Bipolar Sunshine (from DJ Snake’s “Middle”) on the track “Whole Heart”.
Tourist
Tourist will be early Sunday and I highly recommend getting there for this set. From “Placid Acid” off their first EP to the newest album “U” Tourist covers the whole sonic spectrum. It will be the perfect way to get your dancing legs warm for the rest of the day.
Mura Masa
I was first introduced to Mura Masa by a friend who hosts a radio show at UCLA. He played “Firefly” on one of his show and I was immediately hooked. Most recently the UK producer released “Lovesick”. A track that has a cool hip hop/electronic mix and a remix with A$AP Rocky that is great! I still prefer the original track though.
Hannah Wants
The multi-talented Hannah Wants is another amazing artist holding it down for the ladies of Coachella. She is a footballer turned music producer and has this weird deep electro vibe. I’m hoping she’s in the Yuma Tent because that would provide the perfect ambiance for a set like this. Especially with that giant disco ball.
Breakbot
If you’re looking for some 80’s-y electro disco beats to dance look no further than Breakbot. His track “Baby I’m Yours” will have you doing dance moves you didn’t even know you had in your repertoire.
Brodinski
The French DJ/producer and Bromance Record Label owner will bring his Gessafelstein-like beats to the polo fields and it’s going to get weird. I love that dark techno sound and the underground grimey feel you get during his sets.
Röyskopp
I remember the first time I heard Röyskopp’s vibey downtempo sound in their track “Remind Me”. I fell in love with it instantly and dove deeper into their collection. The Norwegian duo have been making music since 1998 so you know they are masters of their craft and who knows when you’ll have another chance to see them again.
Nora En Pure
I cannot wait to groove at Nora En Pure’s set. I recently stumbled across her on Pandora and have been listening to her remix of Me and My Toothbrush’s track “One Thing”. It has the perfect beat to bop around to and easy lyrics to sing along with.
Justice
After a long hiatus, the French duo is making their return to the polo grounds and I am stoked! It’s a live set, they just released a new album, and I missed them at Coachella 2012. Justice was one of the first groups that got me into electronic music and I definitely won’t be missing this set.
Porter Robinson & Madeon

Don’t miss this set. I repeat, do not miss this set. Even though it will most likely conflict with Kendrick…Going to Coachella means you have the chance to see some once in a lifetime shows. Porter and Madeon’s ‘Shelter’ Live Tour is one of those shows. Not only is the show spectacular, but Coachella will be the last and final shows, ever, of the ‘Shelter’ Live Tour. Porter and Madeon have discussed their passion for the project, but it was never meant to turn into an album or anything. It was a one shot deal and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
