Ah.FM’s EOYC 2016 || Top 46 Most Played Tracks

With the end of 2016 now behind us, it is time to revisit the highlights from Ah.FM’s End Of Year Countdown!

Having so many DJs, and so many different tracks, you’d be surprised by quickly glancing the variety of Trance that hits their collective airwaves.  However, that variety still gives way to a clear pack of leaders. Using some sophisticated data mining – because there is no true standard every DJ follows when publishing a track list – we took each artist’s EOYC 2016 set tracklist and normalized the data, formatting “and” to “&,” “feat.” to “ft.,” and so on.  We also removed the tags for Original Mix and Extended Mix, because these monikers amount to the same track more often than not.  From there, we utilized a Pivot Table in Excel spit out the results below – counting each time the unique track appeared.

After reviewing the data, it was clear that a Top 10 or 20 list just did not feel right, given the amount of “ties” we ran into.  What appears below is a Top 46 – because Top 40 or 50 just wasn’t feasible with the counts we saw.

Some quick notes about the standings below:

  • There is a definite #1 most played track throughout EOYC 2016, which was ahead of all others by ten plays.
  • Here are the general breakdowns in the inverse of what you see below:
    • Tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4 all hold unique positions
    • Positions 5 through 7 are a 3-way tie
    • Positions 8 through 10 are a 3-way tie
    • Position 11 is a uniquely held spot
    • Positions 12 through 14 are a 3-way tie
    • Positions 15 through 22 are a 7-way tie
    • Positions 23 through 27 are a 5-way tie
    • Positions 28 through 34 are a 7-way tie
    • Positions 35 through 46 are a 12-way tie
  • By far the most popular label during EOYC 2016 was Future Sound Of Egypt with 13 of the 46 tracks coming from their releases.
  • The second most popular label in this list is Subculture with only 4 tracks out of the 46.
  • There are 7 labels with only one track on the list and include the following:
Universal Nation, Armada Captivating, Reloaded, Coldharbour, Pure Trance, Iboga, and VII.
  • There is one song that was so popular two different mixes made it on this list.
  • There is one artist who has 4 tracks with credits to his name.

As a handy guide for those interested parties, we’ve included a link below to a copy of each song on this list on YouTube.  Wherever possible, we used a link to an official channel.  Likewise, the playlist below takes each track and gives you a 46 track run of the entire list for your listening pleasure.
