Are you ready for Afterwave Records’ first compilation release, ‘Technoscope’?
Afterwave Records is hitting its stride as of late with the announcement of its first ever label release called ‘Technoscope’. This isn’t just any release, it’s a 6 track compilation album featuring Brooklyn based techno artists Buzzi, Human A, Katie Rex, Klienfeld, Krames and William B. Afterwave was founded just this past year by Brooklyn natives Krames and William B and it just seemed appropriate to kick it off paying homage to the talent right there in the city they call home.
Krames had this to say about the inspiration that led to their label launch:
“William B and I became engulfed in the world of modular synthesizers and our intrigue into the history of this instrument inspired us to build modules and perform live sets. The idea of Afterwave Records came about as an outlet to share the music both us and our collective of artists were making and playing at our parties in Brooklyn; as well as, to be able to release both modular synth music and techno for the dance-floor on the same label.”
Not wanting to slow their momentum, Afterwave Records has already announced a follow-up. It has been revealed that Buzzi’s Black Waters EP will be hitting the airwaves next month. A strong start for a label with so much potential! And this comes as wonderful news to techno fans all over the planet. As the EDM bubble continues to grow bigger each day, its of absolute necessity to keep the classic genres alive. Afterwave Records is planning on doing just that and from the sounds of the tracks on Technoscope, this special genre just keeps on getting better and better!

Technoscope Review:
After listening to the Technoscope compilation album I am left with a clear picture of the type of artists that Afterwave represents. Artists with a unique flare and a great ear used for implementing interesting tones and sound bytes. The tracks are forward thinking pieces but immensely respectful to the techno genre keeping the required elements with that kick that we simply can’t live without. What makes these Brooklyn producers special is that they keep things interesting with brilliant and out of the box sound manipulation. There was never a moment that I found myself getting bored. Just when you think you have each track figured out, little details will begin to reveal themselves keeping you locked in and focused. Techno has always been the best genre to listen to if you simply want to grab on to the beat and ride it out with an unwavering consistency. These tracks offer the listener the expected ability to ride the beat but they also keep the listener on there toes as they traverse through an expressive and quirky techno fantasy land.
