EDC Orlando is taking place in less than a month, and I must say I’m excited to see what will come of this year’s event.
In my fourth year attending EDC Orlando, I have decided to venture off and discover new artists I haven’t listened to yet. Since I’ve attended so many festivals since I started listening to electronic dance music back in 2012, I’ve already seen some of the big name artists so many times, it’s starting to get old. I plan on broadening my horizons this year, and Insomniac Events has sure brought a ton of amazing acts to help me along my musical exploration journey.

Above & Beyond
For most, A&B is a staple of EDM and can boost the absolute feels. Tony, Paavo, and Jono have brought a well-known brand of progressive trance to the scene since 2000. Last time they performed at EDC Orlando it ended up getting really cold and drizzled, completely ruining the full A&B experience for me. This year I want to experience it again (hopefully not cold and freezing this time around). After all, life is made of small moments like these. Check out Above & Beyond’s remix of Moby’s classic, Porcelain below!
Dreamstate Presents
Well this isn’t one artist specifically but rather a multitude of great trance artists. I’ve always been into trance since I was first turned onto in the early 2000’s. Also with the stage set up being described for this year for neonGARDEN, I can only hope that Dreamstate presents will only be one amazing experience. Dreamstate is a world where ethereal beats and timeless melodies abduct you from the everyday and take you to a higher state. Since November 27, 2015 Dreamstate has become a staple brand for Insomniac Events. Check out this Dreamstate Playlist from Insomniac Events featuring exclusive DJ mixes, below!

Nero (LIVE)
One thing I have learned since coming into the scene that there are some to die for. There are performances that you wish to see but can’t ever seem to catch. For me, Nero is one of those performances. I have never seen the trio perform a live set together and I am seriously excited to be catching them at one of my favorite events!
Alison Wonderland
After catching some of her set last year, this woman is one to keep an eye on in the scene. She definitely doesn’t disappoint. Plus I just love how down to earth she is. According to her description on Facebook, “I spin at places you want to hangout at, making you shake your ass like Beyonce on crack.” Well said, Alison, well said.
Cocodrills
Last year I was able to catch them perform at an EDC Orlando after party and was seriously impressed. This duo catered to my growing love for deep house, and I definitely can’t wait to see them again this year. They supply absolutely funkadelic beats and positive vibes, a great combination for an awesome set!
Rabbit in the Moon (LIVE)
This is one I certainly CANNOT miss. Insomniac’s very own creative director, Bunny, is part of this duo. I have heard nothing but positive things about these two and it is definitely a must see for anyone. The best way to describe R.I.T.M is that it is an intense electronic act that combines dance, techno & progressive house with an unforgettable live stage performance. All the more reason not to miss them, check out their performance below.
Nicole Moudaber
If you like techno, tech house or just enjoy chill vibes, Nicole is definitely your DJ. After finding out about her myself last year during Miami Music Week, I have taken an interest to her music. Releasing her latest work the ‘Silent Sigh EP‘ back in February, there is clearly no stopping her now. Not to mention that her mixes and radio shows are sublime. She is definitely a mover and shaker in the industry, and I plan to not missing her at EDC Orlando this year.
Porter Robinson (DJ Set)
After catching his set during TomorrowWorld 2015, I have always made sure to catch him if I can. Porter always brings a great show and doesn’t disappoint. He is one of the most humble and talented DJ’s I have seen. Don’t miss his DJ set, as he tends to deviate from the usual sounds and incorporate heavier bass elements and other genres into the experience. Check out his latest track, a collaboration with Madeon, “Shelter” below:
Shake’N’Bass (Big Makk Tribute Set)
For those that live in the local Orlando area, Big Makk was definitely an up and coming bass artist that departed us too soon in an untimely car accident. While we as fans and a community have mourned his loss, it is very big for Insomniac to hold a tribute set in his honor. Big Makk was very excited that he landed a spot to perform at this year’s EDC Orlando and so the tribute set in his honor will be full of emotion. This is one set you will definitely see a lot of Orlando and Central Florida locals attending to pay their respects one last time.

RL Grime
I was always unsure if I wanted to catch him perform, but I’m glad I finally did. After catching him at Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival earlier this year, RL Grime is certainly the king of trap. All of his drops were absolutely filthy and I loved every minute of it. He catered to my love of dirty basslines and drops, and is definitely one I will watch again.
