Wrapping up his epic “In This Light” tour that saw ShockOne wow crowds in Australia and New Zealand, as well as dropping his new track, “City Lock“, complete with music video, ShockOne has more for his faithful bass heads. His latest EP has arrived and it is packed full of electronic dance music swag. Running the gamut of everything that is bass music, ‘In This Light’ is ShockOne’s newest expression, experimenting with new sounds and flavors. I sat down to take a listen to each track and here are my thoughts:

“City Lock” feat. Ragga Twins:

This particular track is an exciting blend of reggae style lyrics and earthquaking bass. The tempo ebbs and flows and the beat teases when it pulls back for a moment and then brings you right back in, full force. Its nothing short of a dance floor anthem and will be a perfect track to spin at the club or at a wild summer party!

“In This Light”

This track features the vocals of Savoi and as the title track it promises to leave a major impression on its listener. “In This Light” is a bit more pulled back than “City Lock”. A lighter melody with a feel good charm. But, it still has a power to it and when it drops into the drum & bass section, you can’t help but feel uplifted. The tempo picks up and takes off in the latter part of the track and it ends leaving you wanting more. Definitely a go-to track for the summer season.

“This Is Good Dubstep”

Considered to be the hardest hitting track on the EP, “This Is Good Dubstep”  spits fire! Grimy, filthy, head banging bass music is my favorite way to describe this track. I found myself jumping around my living room getting lost in the beat and embracing its heaviness. It’s not a complex track but it pierces the airwaves with dark mechanical flavor. I have chosen this track as my personal favorite on the EP. Yes, ShockOne, this is good dubstep.

“Some Kind Of Drug Warp”

Taking the final spot on ShockOne’s “In This Light” EP is “Some Kind Of Drug Warp”. Heading back into the drum & bass realm, this track packs a high energy punch with dark vocals sprinkled appropriately throughout the track. It is intense, with a grinding and eerie melody. Perfect for the deep hours of the night when the dance floor is full of sweat and gyrating bodies. “Some Kind Of Drug Warp” is meant for the underground. Unfortunately, to stream this track you are gonna have to buy your copy!  But for now, here is a little tease of

ShockOne has done it right with this new EP. With everything from the chill bass vibes of “In This Light”, to the mind melting dubstep of “This is Good Dubstep”, to a dance floor anthem called “City Lock”, to the creepy drum & bass freakshow that is “Some Kinda Drug Warp”, ShockOne has hit the nail on the head.
