If you’re anything like me, your very first introduction to EDM was in the 90s, back when “EDM” was still considered “techno” and there was a very particular sound pattern that artists followed. There was one particular 90s trance masterpiece called “The Silmarillia” that I’ll never forget. Coming from the likes of old school Dutch trance master, Carlos, “The Silmarillia” has all the callings of the perfect electronica throwback. I thought that this track couldn’t have gotten any better and then, much to my delight, one of my favorite artists, Blasterjaxx, decided to revive the 1997 classic!
Recreating a masterpiece can be a tall order, usually because the original is so widely loved! Yet, Blasterjaxx has wowed us again with their incredible talent! Artists Idir and Thom have reworked one of their favorite Dutch trance anthems via their new recording label, Maxximize Recordings, and created a track that can’t be missed! The new “The Silmarillia” has all the qualities of old school Sandstorm and Basshunter coupled with the ingenuity of the millennial beat.
