The iconic duo of Skrillex and Boys Noize have blown us away once again with Turn Off The Lights, a brand new EP under their Dog Blood alias.

One of the biggest stories in electronic music this year has been the return of Dog Blood, the collaborative project of prolific producers Skrillex and Boys Noize. Mostly known for their festival sets, the Dog Blood discography basically just doubled overnight with the release of Turn Off The Lights, their brand new EP released via OWSLA/Boys Noize Records.

Skrillex and Boys Noize have been genre-bending producers since the beginning and they continue to amaze listeners across the world with their music. Following their performances in Miami at Ultra Music Festival and the Brownies & Lemonade party, Turn Off The Lights once again sets the tone for festival season and pushes the boundaries of electronic music.

My first impression of the release is that it’s heavily influenced by Boys Noize’s techno sounds. However, the first track, “BREAK LAW,” definitely does has a lot of Skrillex’s production on the drop. “4 MIND” with josh pan and X&G focuses on a filthy bassline and a synth that sounds familiar to their first ever track, “Middle Finger“. “KOKOE” with Otira starts with an amazing techno melody and drum sequence before hitting hard with an awesome drop from the legendary producers.

The last track, the previously released “TURN OFF THE LIGHTS,” once again has a dancey vibe that sounds right at home on a Boysnoize Records release. Dog Blood is truly in a league of their own when it comes to electronic music, and I really love this album. Their next performance will be at Electric Zoo in August, with hopefully more future dates to be announced.
