Ponicz Gets Gross with Sticky Bass Tune “Gurgle”

Jayce Ullah-Blocks by Jayce Ullah-Blocks
January 26, 2019
in Exclusive Premiere

Coming out on Never Say Die’s Black Ops IV compilation, “Gurgle” is a delectably icky blend of squelchy undulations and brain-melting bass.

We all know Never Say Die is known for its ridiculously gruesome dubstep, ranging from the screeching scrap-metal sounds of Trampa and Gladez, to total spine rearrangements from BadKlaat and Megalodon. Ponicz changes up the label’s pace with “Gurgle”, one of four tracks on Never Say Die: Black Label‘s upcoming compilation release, Black Ops IV. While still commanding your neck to fall victim to its raging torrents of bass, “Gurgle” dives into a deeper and weirder dimension with warped wobbles and bloodcurdling chops.

Never Say Die: Black Label’s Black Ops compilations are known to encompass the gnarliest riddim and dubstep tunes from both industry heavyweights and up-and-coming artists. Having featured BloodThinnerz, Chibs, Somnium Sound, and many others, the Black Ops collections are a must-have in your heaviest of playlists. The fourth edition in the series is bound to be its hottest yet, and you’re not going to want to miss it. Catch the full release of Black Ops IV on January 28, and read on for more about Ponicz!

Listen to Ponicz – Gurgle on SoundCloud:

Jonathon Smith, otherwise known as Ponicz, is a UK dubstep and riddim producer. Having made music for several years, Ponicz has situated himself in the heavy bass realm as a master at what he does. With releases on Firepower Records, Never Say Die, Division, and others, Ponicz’ unmistakable sound is making its way into bass sets around the world.

The UK artist has rightfully received recognition from the crème de la crème of bass, including SKisM, FuntCase, Bassnectar, Noisia, and many more. Having performed at ANIMALZ in Paris in 2016 and EDC Las Vegas in 2017, we can expect 2019 to be the year we hear more from and about this talented producer. If you’re unfamiliar with his work, check out some of my favorite tunes “Pump This”, “Put It Down”, and “Tunnel”!
