After making the brief announcement during Electric Forest Weekend 1 and teasing us all summer, Pasquale & Insomniac have officially announced the new dates and details for EDC Las Vegas.
EDC Las Vegas has become the pinnacle of electronic music festivals in North America over the past seven years, dominating the conversation and growing to a massive size along the way. Back in June during the first weekend of Electric Forest, Pasquale Rotella went live on Instagram to show his loyal followers a look at the crowd and chatted briefly with fans via the feed about many topics including EDC Las Vegas 2018.
Most recently, Pasquale himself took to Instagram for a fan Q&A where he discussed a variety of topics including some things about EDC Las Vegas too. Shutting down the theories that there would be a change in venue or a second weekend added, the ideas began to narrow as the anticipation grew even more.
Today, the announcement has finally arrived. EDM Identity is proud to announce that EDC Las Vegas 2018 will be moving its dates up a month, to take place on May 18-20, 2018!
This is massive news for those looking to attend Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this year, as headliners have already begun booking their rooms for the upcoming edition and will need to make changes accordingly. The move in dates is beneficial, as it historically is less windy and has temperatures that are a bit lower, making this festival more bearable for those who have issues with the heat.

Also announced alongside the new dates are many other changes for next year’s edition of EDCLV.
In their efforts to cut down on the traffic coming in both before and after the event Insomniac will be turning over their EDC Las Vegas shuttle program to an independent team to help with the flow of traffic. Additionally, the construction on the 15 Freeway is set to be completed before the festival kicks off which will lead to a smoother traffic flow to and from the Speedway for those coming from the strip.
Other notable announcements include the opening ceremonies each day at the cosmicMEADOW before the gates officially open each day and camping options that will be coming to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time ever!
Camping at EDC Las Vegas? Yeah, you heard that right! A fully immersive camping program will be conveniently situated right next to the Speedway where the following options and amenities are available:
- Rent an air-conditioned GA tent decked out with dust-control canvas walls, comfortable artificial grass, and electrical outlets for up to six attendees, max.
- Rent an air-conditioned Premier tent complete with dust-control canvas walls, comfortable artificial grass, twin or queen-sized beds, linens, pillows, towels, tables, chairs, and lights for up to two or four attendees, max.
- Bring your own RV and hook it up to the pre-arranged power on-site.
- Rent an RV fully set up and ready for arrival, complete with linens and pillows provided by Insomniac.
At the center of the campgrounds, fans can enjoy plenty of shade, seating, water, vendors, activities, and more. Another neighboring area will allow for the creation of Sound Camps where Headliners can build out their own themed environments as well!

“EDC Las Vegas is more than just a festival—it’s a community without boundaries, a celebration of life, art and dance music culture” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “We strive to make every year better than the last, and after a lot of brainstorming and feedback from our community, we have decided to move next year’s festival to May 18, 19 and 20. This way we can enjoy cooler weather, the gates can open earlier, and we can hold a very special opening ceremony each day at cosmicMEADOW. I’m also excited to announce that for the first time ever at EDC we’ll be building an immersive camping experience right next to the Speedway, which will eliminate traffic all together for campers. Shuttle operations will be handed over to an independent company that specializes in the largest music and sporting events in the country. This is what they do and they do it better than anyone else, year over year. I’m looking forward to revealing what this exciting next chapter of EDC Las Vegas will look like in the months to come.”
