What was your first electronic music event?
My first show I ever attended was Flux Pavilion, Roksonic, Brown and Gammon, and Bare at the Skyway Theater in downtown Minneapolis in 2013. It was absolutely mind-blowing and without a doubt, changed my life forever.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
To be completely honest, there wasn’t a particular person to influence me to attend flux. I somehow discovered a promotional flyer online and when I saw that I made an executive decision that it was a must-attend event.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
There have been so many special events that have happened the past few years. Without a doubt, it has to be when my partner in crime Tommy Gunzz, and I got the honor to be direct support for Figure and Protohype on the main stage at the Skyway Theater. I have been attending events frequently at the Skyway and always told myself every time I saw that main stage that one day I would get to be on that stage.
The amount of support that came to see us perform was out of this world. We easily had 1000 people in front of us who were all there to support TandT. The amount of energy coming from that crowd was almost indescribable. I bounced around the stage the whole set, and we threw a KILLER set! Best moment of my life and career to this day.
What is your favorite festival or event?
My favorite festival has to be Electric Forest. I have attended the Forest the past 2 years and the copious amounts of good vibes, great stages, wonderful sound, unique attractions, and the amazing people you meet, is what makes it my favorite festival.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
It’s really hard to pick a favorite song because of all the crazy new music everyone’s pushing out on the regular. If I had to really narrow it down to a favorite song I would say right now I’m absolutely in love with the Zomboy – Lights Out (Rickyxsan Remix). Something about that vocoder fart sounding lead is insane! It’s also a for sure crowd pleaser.
Who are your favorite artists?
Currently, my favorite artists right now have to be Trampa, Rickyxsan, Ecraze, Barely Alive, Wavedash, Valentino Khan, Herobust, Dion Timmer, The Frim, Omar Varela, Virtual Riot, PhaseOne, Graphyt, Carbin, Soltan, Tascione, and honestly everyone else that is pushing out great content.
What are your favorite genres?
My favorite genres are no question dubstep and trap music. I’m an absolute bass head and love how people design the heavy drums in dubstep, but also the eccentric leads in trap music. I do also enjoy some deep house music and some terror house music as well. Personally, I enjoy every genre out there as long as it is well produced and is engineered well.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I think that my identity in the electronic music community right now is a rapidly uprising Dj, music producer, and engineer. I’ve been attending shows in Minneapolis for a few years now, and have met an insane amount of people. Walking into the Skyway Theater it’s almost near impossible to get through the whole venue without getting stopped by friends for hugs and good vibes. I think I’m really well liked by a majority of individuals attending events in the scene right now.
Also, I have a huge underground electronic music identity currently. I have been performing at underground raves, house parties, and other underground events for a few years now as well, and it is helped build my overall identity substantially. The underground scene here in Minneapolis is all about PLUR, good vibes, and the most important part, showcasing DJs on the rapid uprise.
I also am a part of The Dubapolis Collective, who’s main goal is to help build each other’s music up, as well as performing and throwing various events. I’ve done a lot for the underground community providing equipment for a lot of events, and it’s safe to say my electronic music identity is known for being a killer DJ, a great producer, and overall, a genuinely good friend to everyone.
