TroyBoi Spices Things Up With New High-Spirited Single, "Masala"

TroyBoi puts his spin on Punjabi music by releasing “Masala,” the lead single off his forthcoming EP on Ultra Records.

A master at producing distinctive trap tunes, TroyBoi returns with another single, showcasing his innate ability to fuse diverse musical styles into a bold punch of sound. The British DJ and producer’s latest single, “Masala,” brings a new groove as TroyBoi explores the connection between the Indian subcontinent and the global South Asian diaspora, further exploring his Indian heritage.

Blending vibrant Indian rhythms with elements of hip-hop and house, TroyBoi has crafted an infectious track that begs you to move to the dancefloor. Embracing his multicultural identity, he enlisted the vocal prowess of Indian singer and songwriter Amrit Maan. With vocals layered over the twangy sounds of the tumbi, traditional to the Punjabi culture, alongside various wind instruments, Maan’s vocals soar, adding flavor to the fresh release.

“Masala” gives fans a small glimpse into TroyBoi’s forthcoming five-track EP, which is due out later this summer. While information is sparse at the time of publishing, the beloved trap artist teased the five tracks on the release on Instagram earlier this month. Additionally, Bhangra dancers from the Movement of Desis collective joined him during his performance at Beyond Wonderland Chicago for a cultural showcase celebrating its tracks.

TroyBoi’s last EP, 4 ON DA FLOOR, was released in July 2024. In it, his signature trap beats melded with the sounds of reggaeton, bass house, and more, adding to his impressive discography. Along with impending new music, TroyBoi plans to delight fans by bringing his high-energy sets to Deep Tropics Festival, Brownies & Lemonade Seattle, Splash House, Dirtybird CampINN, and Sacred Acre this summer.
