Brooklyn Mirage Build Site Videos Fuel Skepticism of Relaunch Timeline

The Brooklyn Mirage build site six days before its grand reopening.

The new Brooklyn Mirage is slated to reopen on Thursday, May 1. Videos of its construction site have led some to suspect otherwise.

Avant Gardner went into 2025 with lofty ambitions for its world-famous New York City venue, The Brooklyn Mirage. But with less than a week to go before its May 1 grand reopening, videos circulating online are leading many to question whether it can stick to that schedule.

One Instagram Reel posted on April 21 with more than 100,000 views shows drone footage of the build site at 140 Stewart Avenue with what appears to be little more than a structural frame and wall system completed. “How on earth are they gonna get this done by May 1 for Sara Landry’s show?” says rave influencer jiaorgeo in an overlay.

Another Reel posted on April 25 appears to have been taken from inside the structure with newer black paneling visible. “7 days until the new Brooklyn Mirage opens!” reads superimposed text. “Will it get finished in time?”

The Brooklyn Mirage maintains that it will. “The new Mirage will open on May 1,” wrote a spokesperson in an email to EDM Identity. “There are no delays in the build schedule because this is a prefabricated, modular project, which was always predicated in just-in-time manufacturing and inventory methodologies to reduce risk of supply chain issues. With all materials onsite, the plan has been executed to exacting details, peak efficiency, and to total adherence to all applicable building, fire, and city codes.”

Recently appointed Avant Gardner CEO Josh Wyatt has been at pains to earn back the trust of NYC dance music fans after the 2023 death of a Brooklyn Mirage attendee, not to mention the company’s failure to execute Electric Zoo 2023 up to previous years’ standards. In December, he outlined plans to improve the Mirage’s safety, sound quality, and crowd management, among other aspects.

Following Sara Landry’s double-header on May 1-2, The Brooklyn Mirage’s 2025 program includes events headlined by the likes of REZZ, Sub Focus, Black Coffee, and The Chainsmokers.
