EMUH Charts New Auditory Pathways on ‘ALD-52’

EMUH delivers a jam-packed sonic journey on ALD-52, guiding listeners through drum and bass, house, deep tech, and more.

While Seattle might be known for its cold, rainy weather throughout most of the year, the summer months bring out some of the best in the city. There’s no better time to groove on the dancefloor and explore some unique sounds during those months, and that’s the exact mentality EMUH channeled when creating his latest sonic offering on Feral One Records, ALD-52.

EMUH has been a force in the tech house scene for years with an unmistakable sound that has challenged the genre’s norm, yet he also dabbles in reaches beyond its walls to offer fresh, creative soundscapes. This is displayed on ALD-52, as the brilliant producer tells a story through sound that takes listeners from minimal atmospheres to dancefloor-ready tech house moments to a breakbeat-fueled close.

You can’t help but let the minimal sounds that permeate the title track wrap around your mind as EMUH begins the ride. While stripped-back, the chopped vocals, acid tones, and punchy bassline add enough depth and energy to get your feet tapping and head swaying along with it. This paves the way for the two tech house-driven tunes, “Funnybone” and “Ostinato.” The former offers a deeper atmosphere as the track chugs forward with tasty elements layered in, while the latter is more of a surreal soundscape with introspective moments and a mind-tickling rhythm.

Then, EMUH switches gears entirely for an explosion of vibrant energy at the end. “Jungle’s Lab” is a shift in sound but a pleasant addition to this release, as vocal samples and guitar strings are layered over breaks for a light drum and bass tune that will keep your body moving until the final seconds. It’s a gorgeous track that deserves multiple listens, so make sure to give it a spin.
