Timmy Trumpet brought the Freakshow to San Jose, California for an unforgettable night with Will Sparks and Restricted!
One of Australia’s greatest exports, Timmy Trumpet has become widely recognized for his energetic style that never plays by the rules. The Aussie icon continues to captivate audiences worldwide, getting fans hooked with adrenaline-packed performances and stunning releases that span the entire scope of dance music.
For years, Timmy Trumpet has been introducing mainstage crowds to the rougher sides of dance music, with hardstyle, hardcore, and uptempo becoming a staple of his wild sets. Throughout his memorable career, he’s injected life into different live shows such as the Freakshow, and it was finally time to bring this wild concept to fans all over the States.
As it promised mayhem, aggression, and a ton of high-octane fun, I couldn’t wait to attend the San Jose, California stop at the San Jose Civic. Timmy Trumpet came ready to bring the madness with support from Restricted and Will Sparks, and both perfectly set the tone for the night.
Restricted was a relatively new name for me as I was exposed to him through viral TikTok videos showcasing hard techno heaters. When I saw him live, he lived up to the hype. He kept the crowd engaged, delivering a set full of hard music without compromising Timmy Trumpet’s headline set.
Shortly after, Will Sparks took the stage and threw down a DJ masterclass.
He threw in a little bit of everything, like techno, hard dance, and even took everyone back in time with Melbourne bounce. After I saw him only one week ago at Beyond Wonderland SoCal, his set still felt fresh and gave fans in attendance the jolt of energy needed to prepare for the next set.
Once Will Sparks was finished, it was finally time for the main event with Timmy Trumpet! Timmy put on an electric performance from start to finish, featuring every genre under the sun. Fans journeyed across the dance music spectrum as he hit the crowd with the rolling basslines of psytrance, the ominous growls of bass music, the aggressive distortion of hardstyle, and the nostalgic sounds of hardcore.
I admire his passion for showcasing the harder styles to mainstream audiences digestibly. Out of all the great events I’ve attended at the San Jose Civic, I’ve never heard someone play as much hard dance as Timmy Trumpet did, and I respect him for that.
He played everything from the euphoric melodies of Da Tweekaz to the raw beats of Warface to the unbearable noise of GPF, and the crowd ate it up every single time! Overall, Timmy Trumpet kept my hope for hard dance in the US alive, and I can’t wait to catch him ripping hardstyle tunes in the States again soon.
