Hijinx Puts His Name on the Map With the ‘Macabre EP’

Hijinx returns to 1985 Music for his debut EP with the imprint, solidifying that he’s in his rightful place.

Hijinx may be a newer name to the game, but he’s wasting no time to prove his worth. Marking his territory on the darker side of frequencies, you can always expect this artist to provide plenty of murky low end sounds. You never know what might be lurking around the corner with Hijinx, and the thrill is worth the risk of taking a peek.

Already impressing the tastemakers at 1985 Music, Hijinx has released several amazing tracks with the beloved imprint, including “Shush.” Among many other notable names, he also appeared on the Atlas / 2 compilation with his track “Release.” Today, Hijinx provides listeners with more edgy, brooding tracks on his Macabre EP, once more proving his rightful place on the 1985 roster.

Distorted electric currents occupy the space as you walk into an unknown “Danger” zone. Hi-hats lead you further down the dimly lit path until you spot a phone on the wall, and hope begins to resurface as you place a call for help — but the dial tone rings out, bringing fear into your consciousness. The sounds of horns alternate through one ear out the other until a “Swarm” of high and low frequencies jolts you. This track will spike your heart rate as it teases your senses with its hunt-or-be-hunted energy.

Hijinx and Cesco teamed up and demand your full “Attention” next. With hard-hitting drums and a bassline that makes you weak in the knees, this dub has something to prove, so “listen carefully.” The title track entices you with its sultry chimes and deep low bass strums. Hypnotized, you come back to your consciousness once a white noise rings out, only to notice a siren trying to lead you into her clutches, barely making it out alive.
