Avicii's Debut Album 'True' Turns 10 Years Old

The scene was rocked five years ago when the news that Avicii had tragically died in an apparent suicide surfaced. The beloved DJ and producer had solidified his place in the global dance music community years prior with his signature style that married house, pop, and other elements. Additionally, his standout performances at festivals like Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, and Tomorrowland, as well as his tours, helped him win over the hearts of millions of dance music lovers.

Since his passing, there has been an outpour of support not just for his music but for his family, friends, and fans as well. Tracks like “Seek Bromance” and “Levels” continue to be played out to this day by DJs near and far. Additionally, Pophouse’s purchase of his discography led to the formation of the Tim Bergling Foundation which has helped raise awareness surrounding mental health while also curating tracks for his posthumous album TIM and creating the Avicii Experience in Stockholm.

Last month, Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” became the first song from a Swedish artist to hit two billion streams on Spotify, and now, it’s time to pay respects to his debut album, True, which has reached its tenth anniversary today. This album helped usher in a new era of his sound, with tracks like the aforementioned “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother” showcasing his passion for marrying his signature electronic style with his influences from soul, bluegrass, folk, and country. Further bolstered by infectious tunes like “Addicted To You,” “Heart Upon My Sleeve,” “Dear Boy,” and “Shame On Me,” it cemented his legacy as an innovator in the scene.

To celebrate the occasion, Pophouse and Universal have teamed up to bring forth something special for Avicii’s fans around the world. This includes footage of the True Tour, which will allow those who were able to catch him a decade ago the ability to relive those nights.
