French band L’Imperatrice and Cuco join forces for a psychedelic and funky new single that will make you feel the “Heartquake.”
Breakout stars, French band L’Impératrice, have been making waves and catching attention from fans all over the world. With performances at major festivals like Coachella, Austin City Limits, and Portola, the six-piece band is turning heads with their nostalgic, groovy sound. L’Imperatrice (meaning “empress” in French) blends the best of modern electronic music, live instrumentation, ’70s-influenced disco, and ’90s synth-pop.
Californian singer-songwriter Cuco fell into music at an early age and got his start posting music to his YouTube and SoundCloud pages. He quickly gained attention with his bossa nova meets indie-pop style that leans on his Mexican heritage. With a psychedelic and nostalgic sound, Cuco blends English and Spanish lyrics and draws on both Latin and American cultures for inspiration.
After meeting at Coachella last year, it only makes sense that L’Imperatrice and Cuco would collaborate. Out now on microqlima records is their latest single, “Heartquake,” which combines the best of both their worlds. Perfect for summer, “Heartquake” is sultry and smooth, featuring psychedelic synth oscillations, funky guitar melodies, and a vibey breakdown. L’Imperatrice frontwoman Flore Benguigui and Cuco’s vocals blend together spectacularly for honey on the ears.
Listen to “Heartquake” on your favorite streaming platform, watch the lyric video or their YouTube chat, and make sure to catch L’Imperatrice this summer to hear the newest single live!
