In honor of the Forest Hills Stadium’s 100th anniversary, artists like LCD Soundsystem, Lane 8, and Jungle will grace the venue in Queens.
With this year’s music festival season well underway, the announcement of new tours and concerts—like Pretty Lights and Skrillex—is turning summer into a jam-packed season. Adding to the frenzy of live music is one of New York’s most historic venues: the Forest Hills Stadium. This stadium in Queens just revealed a grand lineup for its summer concert series, commemorating the venue’s 100th anniversary, with a slate of electronic stars such as LCD Soundsystem, Lane 8, Jungle, Two Friends, Sultan + Shepard, Jerro, Matoma, and many more.
In addition to these dance acts, legacy artists like Duran Duran, Dave Matthews Band, and Willie Nelson will take to the stage. Plus, indie-rock performances from Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Maggie Rogers, and The Strokes, and the venue will be home to the first New York edition of the Head In The Clouds Music Festival and host LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Festival, which is celebrating the 50th year of hip-hop. Also, many laughs will be heard on June 4 when comedian Kevin Hart graces the stage.
Since 1923, the storied venue has featured Hall of Fame artists like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones. In an effort to redesign the space for the modern age, the stadium went through renovations in 2013, and its transformation made it into one the country’s most remarkable venues, placing it among other famed open-air venues like the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
