While Monstercat has been home to some of the most renowned artists in the scene over the years, the label has also made sure to support countless artists rising through the ranks from all reaches of the globe. This includes one of the latest artists to grace the imprint, OBLVYN, who is quickly beginning to turn heads as she stakes her claim on the scene.

Based out of Edmonton, OBLYVN has been honing her chops as a musician for years. First learning to play the piano at the age of five, she picked up a guitar to play in a pop-punk band before finishing her degree and finding a passion for electronic music. Over the past few years she’s delivered a number of releases, but more recently found her place on the Monstercat roster with her funky, future bass style continuing to blossom.

Earlier this summer OBLVYN dropped “Alive” on the imprint and then followed that up in August with “Enter REM” – the lead single off her forthcoming EP that’s due out this fall. True to its title, her latest single allows listeners to embark on a journey that’s filled with sonic treats as she leads everyone into the depths of her vibrant dreamland. The retro synths and powerful bassline make this one stand out – and to celebrate its release, OBLYVN has spun up a sensational mix to give us all even more soundscapes to explore from her brilliant mind.

Grateful to have the opportunity to share my first ever mix with EDM Identity! I had a lot of fun throwing this one together. It represents my love for both emotional bass and bouncy feel-good tracks. Just overall good vibes to share with other people. It includes some songs I’ve been jamming over the summer, and a few of my originals and remixes from over the past couple of years, as well as an unreleased track. Props to Monstercat who have been supporting me in so many ways! With my debut EP set to release this fall and an upcoming performance at Compound, I think this mix is a little taste of what people can expect for my set.
