Ultra Music Festival has canceled its 2021 edition due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has locked in dates for March 2022.
As the kick-off to festival season in March each year, Ultra Music Festival also was one of the first to fall victim to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Last month, speculation began to swirl surrounding the cancellation of the 2021 edition as well due to the ongoing pandemic. Initially centered around a letter from Ultra’s attorney that was sent to Miami’s city manager on January 21 that asked for new dates in 2022, but there were limited public details.
Today, the official statement from the festival organizers has been released for their attendees around the globe. In the message that was posted moments ago, Ultra’s organizers said “We know you are craving those magical moments where you’re lost in the beat, spellbound by the production, and harmoniously surrounded by old and new friends from around the world that can only be experienced at a festival, but unfortunately it is still not safe enough for that to happen yet.”
They go on to confirm that the dates they requested for 2022 in the letter sent to the city manager. “Given the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic, in relation to mass gatherings and public health considerations, we’re deeply saddened to be forced to reschedule Ultra Music Festival to March 25, 26, 27, 2022.” Those who had purchased tickets should be on the lookout for an email from Ultra Music Festival for further details.
The cancellation of Ultra Miami 2021 follows other behemoth spring and summer festivals that have also looked to future dates including Glastonbury, Coachella, and Defqon.1. Stay tuned for the latest news surrounding Ultra and more updates regarding other events and festivals that are canceled or postponed in 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.
What about edc
Unfortunately no word yet, but we expect there to be some news about it in the coming weeks since we’re less than 3 months away.
I just heard they confirmed New Jersey’s first cannabis festival on 4/20/22
Gotta say, ultra is a serious bunch of scumbags. Just thinking of the interest that they earned from keeping peoples ticket money for over 2 years is ridiculous. Give people their money back you shady fu!!!
It is completely ridiculous that there is no refund option after cancelling 2 times. On top of that the city of Miami is not the biggest fan of Ultra and I find it hard to believe they will ever allow the festival to happen again.
It brings a TON of money to the local economy, so they’ll have it again in 2022 and in future years.
Remember, Ultra isn’t just the festival…it’s Miami Music Week – bars/clubs are full nightly, restaurants are packed, hotels are booked, lots of Air BnB’s too. It’s a big deal and the local gov’t knows that.
