The plans for Coachella and Stagecoach to take place in April have been dashed with the latest public health order from Riverside County.

Update February 9: Today, Coachella sent out an update via email to those who had held onto their tickets after the 2020 dates were postponed. In the email, they confirm that the festival will not take place in April, and go on to say, “We are working hard to announce further updates about when we will be together again. It is important for us to produce a carefree event that continues to bring fans and artists from around the world together. Stay tuned for information regarding the process for rolling over or refunding passes.”

Those who have questions about their order can contact Festival Ticketing via 855-771-3667 or via email at [email protected]. Stay tuned for more details.

Previously: The festival cancellations and postponements continue to surface in the first month of 2021 as the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week saw the news surrounding Glastonbury and Ultra Music Festival surface, and now Coachella and Stagecoach are the latest two that will not be hosting editions in the spring of this year.

After postponing both the spring edition and the rescheduled dates in the fall of 2020, Goldenvoice looked to greener pastures and eyed dates in April 2021 for the return of Coachella and Stagecoach. But uncertainty loomed as the typical week for the lineup announcement passed earlier this month.

Today, Riverside County Public Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser signed a new public health order and dashed the plans for both festivals to take place in April. Citing the ongoing pandemic and large, international attendance that the festivals draw, it was signed with the intent to reduce the spread of COVID-19 both in Riverside County and elsewhere. The order also states that if the virus was detected at either festival, it would be “infeasible, if not impossible, to track those who may be placed at risk.”

Much akin to last year, plans for a potential fall edition of Coachella and Stagecoach might be in the works, but only time will tell as the pandemic continues on. As of publishing, no official statement has been released by Goldenvoice in regards to the latest public health order, new potential dates for the fall, or their plans for current ticketholders.

Stay tuned for more information about other cancellations and postponements from around the world as we continue to follow the impact coronavirus has on the festival season this year.

Due to the pandemic, Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser today (Jan. 29) signed a public health order canceling Coachella Valley Music and Arts, Stagecoach Country Music festivals planned for April 2021. We look forward to when the events may return. https://t.co/YAIn8uTea9
