Twitch is looking to help streamers on their platform feature licensed music during their streams with the Beta version of Soundtrack.
One of the biggest topics of conversation over the past few months on Twitch has been surrounding the copyright strikes and the takedown of entire channels that occurred due to the usage of popular songs in their streams. Stemming mostly from clips that were saved which featured copyrighted beats, some being years old and buried among thousands of clips, concerns grew about the future of music on the platform.
Those concerns led to a number of labels and artists in the scene pushing forward to make sure their music would be able to be broadcast on the platform with no penalty, with notable leaders in dance music like Anjunabeats leading the charge. Now, Twitch has launched a new tool to make this even easier for creators on their platform with Soundtrack by Twitch.
Currently in Beta, Soundtrack by Twitch is set to roll out over the next few weeks and give creators the opportunity to play Playlists of curated tracks or select a Station that features specific genres, all of which are cleared for usage on the platform. While Twitch will be curating some of these tunes, they’re also working directly with labels and other streamers to add diversity to the new tool.

Soundtrack by Twitch will launch with more than a million tracks in total from over 30 independent labels. Some of the imprints who have given their go-ahead include the likes of Anjunabeats, Chillhop, DistroKid, Future Classic, Westwood Recordings, and Monstercat, to name a few. This list will continue to grow as the new tool is developed as well, hopefully clearing up many of the issues that streamers have faced over the past few months with copyright strikes.
Head over to Twitch to get more details on Soundtrack and sign up for the waitlist as the program is currently in Beta. Additionally, if you’re an artist or a label that would like to be involved, there is contact information as well to get the ball rolling on having your music appear in the new tool.
