Even though this year has not gone according to plan, Above & Beyond are still celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Anjunabeats in the best way they possibly can.

Since first debuting two decades ago, London-based label Anjunabeats has truly become one of the most beloved in the dance music community. Helmed by iconic trio Above & Beyond, the imprint has become well known for their releases in the realms of trance and progressive with over 700 releases from the highly curated artists on their roster.

While this year was initially shaping up to be a grand celebration with special events to mark the massive milestone, things haven’t gone quite as planned due to the pandemic that has taken hold of the world. But while this situation has affected fans and even Above & Beyond’s own Paavo Siljamäki who contracted COVID-19, they intend to lift the spirits of many with some fresh releases, merch, and more.

The announcements have kicked off with a new mix series featuring handpicked artists who have created definitive mixes that spans the label’s 20-year history. Longtime fans of Anjunabeats will be stoked to hear that Oliver Smith, the first artist signed to the label, has curated the first mix that is due out on May 28 and can be pre-saved via their website.

“Our twentieth year certainly turned out to be a memorable one, didn’t it? We never saw that coming. But one of the many positive things to come out of Lockdown is that it’s given us, our family of artists, and our team in London a chance to reflect upon the incredible records we’ve been custodians of for the last twenty years. To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’ll be looking back at the songs that brought this community together through the eyes of the artists that made them and played them.”

ABOVE & BEYOND

But that’s not all, as Above & Beyond have also released an essential collection of club mixes that begins with 2006’s “Alone Tonight” with Richard Bedford and also includes “Cold Feet” with Justine Suissa for the first time as a single. Available now to stream and download for your listening pleasure later, this release is one that any lover of Anjunabeats needs to listen to.

Anjunabeats Volume 15 has also been confirmed to be on the horizon with a release date anticipated to be mid-summer, and Above & Beyond also announced that they’ll be releasing some exclusive merch on Friday, May 22 that features album sleeve artwork. Beatport has also joined in on the celebrations, making Anjunabeats label of the month while also publishing an interview featuring Tony McGuiness and James Grant (CEO of Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep).

Of course there will be plenty more to be announced in the coming weeks with Above & Beyond teasing more merchandise, catalog re-releases, and other surprises for the Anjunafamily, so stay tuned. Until then, make sure to get a dose of Group Therapy over on Twitch where Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep artists continue to play their hearts out regularly for fans.
