Feed Hero Nurses teamed up with local restaurants and dance music’s Steve Aoki to deliver meals to nurses treating COVID-19 in LA and NYC.
As the entire country continues to grapple with the coronavirus pandemic many have flocked to existing charities or have even launched new ones in their efforts to give back to those on the front lines. And that’s exactly what Event Hub‘s CEO Michael Bleau has joined in on as well with a new non-profit organization called Feed Hero Nurses.
Launched on March 23, Feed Hero Nurses set off with a mission of delivering meals to nurses who are helping treat patients with COVID-19. Focusing on those who work the night and weekend shifts, this volunteer project reached its initial fundraising goal of raising $15,000 and soared past it in style. This, paired with deliveries from their partner Postmates, has led to the delivery of over 1,000 meals to nurses at overwhelmed facilities like SUNY Downstate Medical Center and UCLA Health in Santa Monica.
As they continue to add more hospitals and restaurant partners at a rapid pace, this program has already caught the eye of DJ, Producer, and Dim Mak founder Steve Aoki. While he may be known for his wild antics on stage, Aoki has also flexed his foodie muscle with his very own pizza place aptly named Pizzaoki. Teaming up with Feed Hero Nurses, he helped deliver a much needed late-night meal for nurses who were hard at work.
“Thank you so much for thinking of our teams during this challenging time,” said David Bailey, Chief Nursing Officer, UCLA Santa Monica. “We greatly appreciate this!”
Other notable restaurants that have joined the Feed Hero Nurses cause include Bagle Nest, Sweet Green, and Fat Sal’s Deli. They also plan to expand beyond Los Angeles and New York City with the goal of reaching more nurses at other medical centers in states like Pennsylvania and Florida in the coming weeks.
