After appearing on We Are Friends, Vol. 9, Maison Ware returns to mau5trap with an EP called Mind that’s a two-track stunner!
Mysterious artist Maison Ware has already been making some waves in the scene after releasing the Voices EP last summer and flexed his creative muscle by scoring Spree, a gonzo-styled satire film that premiered at Sundance in January. Now, after being featured on We Are Friends, Vol. 9 to end the decade, he’s returned to mau5trap to deliver a two-track EP dubbed Mind.
The latest addition to Maison Ware’s growing discography, Mind offers up dark basslines and eerie tones that will have listeners transported to a far off dystopian realm. Title track “Mind” starts off the journey with some midtempo madness overlayed with sultry vocals that you can’t help but fall in love with. Driving forward in an unrelenting manner, the track gets more complex with each passing second as you dive into the darkness.
But the EP doesn’t end with “Mind” as Maison Ware wants to “Satisfy” his loyal flock of followers with a second helping of dark grooves as well. Carrying on the theme of brooding basslines with entrancing vocals, this track will run circles in your brain and singing along with it in no time.
Both tracks on the Mind EP blend effortlessly into the sinister aesthetic that Maison Ware has put on full display. Expanding on why he has such a unique approach, Ware stated “Everybody in electronic music is so fucking brand-conscious that they’ve sanded down all of their rough edges in an attempt to appeal to every breathing individual with a streaming subscription. No artist should be for everyone, I’m just being proactive in discouraging any “casual” fans. Maison Ware is all or nothing.”
