With Wasteland Festival looming in the distance, thousands of ravers from across the country are gearing up for the yearly tradition that puts hard dance music at the forefront for two epic nights. This year, the lineup is stacked with the best talent and legends. Among the heavyweight names is none other than Mexican artist Junkie Kid, who is set to take the decks at The Hangar stage at 11pm on September 4.
For more than a decade, Junkie Kid has represented the harder styles on an international level. Early in his career, he explored many genres in dance music, but his career quickly gained traction when he fused elements of hardstyle and house to create a new breed of hard house. Since then, his presence has been felt worldwide, with his underground sounds appearing on festival mainstages like Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and many more.
Since the beginning of my career, I’ve always loved hard drops. I just kept evolving with it, and pitching up the BPM as well. Hard dance is the equivalent of faster music, and I love fast music. So, I would say hard dance and hard sounds bring me joy.

More recently, Junkie Kid has been earning his stripes in the hard techno scene. Viral hits like his remix of “Woops” with Dimitri Vegas, “EL SISTEMA” with GRAVEDGR, and “Pump This Party” with Restricted have helped him captivate the hard dance audience once more. There’s no stopping in sight as Junkie Kid is poised for another legendary run of banging music and brutal performances.

Hard dance is taking all the mainstages! I’m glad to see it being more widely accepted and making its way to “mainstream.” It was only a matter of time, and my hat off to the early pioneers that kept on with it!
