FENIK Celebrates Release Of "UTOPIA" With A Sublime Summer Mix

**FENIK teamed up with Walker & Royce to drop “UTOPIA” on Experts Only earlier this month and dropped off a mix for the Summer Sessions series brimming with quality tunes.**

The next wave of house artists looking to stake their claim on the scene has arrived, and FENIK is helping lead the charge. This Nashville-based DJ and producer has been on a tear over the past few years, dropping off some pure heaters on labels like IN / ROTATION, Trace Amounts, Zerothree, and Rules Don’t Apply.

FENIK opened the doors to another chapter of his career this month by dropping “UTOPIA,” his first release on John Summit’s Experts Only imprint. For this tune, he teamed up with longtime mentors Walker & Royce, who helped him break out on the scene two years ago. Its soundscape brings plenty of dancefloor energy, while leaning into thematic elements from The Utopia Reader, a book that explores the relationship between utopian and dystopian societies.

Speaking about the tune, FENIK said it’s a special one to him because it reflects the valuable lessons he took from his time in college. “I hope listeners take from [“UTOPIA”] the same lesson I learned in the class I took in college,” he said. “Which is that you can’t look for escapes in the idea of a perfect life, or a utopia. You are able to experience happiness and pleasure only because you know what sadness and sorrow are like. If it were always sunny, a sunny day would lose its value, but after a week of rain, the sunny day suddenly has a new sense of value.”

To celebrate its release and give his fans a taste of what’s to come during his forthcoming performances, FENIK spun a mix for the Summer Sessions series. “I used this mix to showcase songs you can expect to hear at any of my upcoming sets,” he said. Found inside the half-hour ride is a flurry of fantastic house gems, all of which will help you dance your worries away as the final weeks of summer come into full view.
