Backline is diving into Mental Health Awareness Month by launching its freely accessible EDM Mental Health Toolkit, a resource designed with the pressure of the scene in mind.

Whether you’re a DJ or a member of the industry, the unique pressure within the electronic music community can feel immense at times. Constantly being on the road and working odd hours are just some of the challenges that those in the industry regularly face. Backline has stepped up to offer assistance and guidance to those who are looking to reset their rhythm and find a better balance.

Earlier this year, Backline introduced the B-LINE support line to help assist the community. In March, they soft-launched the EDM Mental Health Toolkit, a guide that focuses on aspects of being in the scene, such as tour preparation, re-entry after touring, substance use and harm reduction, and support for sobriety, self-care, nutrition, and mental health check-ins. Now, during Mental Health Awareness Month, the toolkit has been officially launched for everyone to check out and utilize.

“Music is therapeutic, but in live electronic it’s also a lot of late nights, early mornings, sets until sunrise, and then flying to the next city,” said Backline co-founder and executive director Hilary Gleason. “Backline is committed to taking care of the artists and community who are so generous with their time and talent, and we designed these tools to meet the EDM scene where they are, with specific resources for their unique needs.”

The EDM Mental Health Toolkit was previewed at the 2026 Femmy Awards during Miami Music Week, giving artists and industry members there a chance to check it out and begin using it as a guide.

“At FEMME HOUSE, we’re committed to building a more equitable and sustainable dance music industry, and that includes prioritizing mental health,” said LP Giobbi, co-founder and artist-in-chief at FEMME HOUSE. “We see firsthand how demanding this space can be, and tools like this are essential for empowering artists and industry professionals to look after themselves and each other.”

This toolkit is the latest addition to a growing list of support services that Backline has championed over the past few years. It complements B-LINE, as well as their one-on-one case management solutions and wellness resources, including mindfulness and yoga.

The EDM Mental Health Toolkit is available to browse or download for free via Backline’s official website.
