Cru2’s event at Birmingham venue Luna Springs was evacuated after two men suffered stab wounds. Police detained a man while investigating.
Birmingham venue Luna Springs halted a drum and bass event hosted by Cru2 after two men were stabbed on Saturday, May 9.
The incident occurred shortly before 7pm. Police were called to the scene, and both men were transported to the hospital. Neither suffered life-threatening wounds.
Luna Springs’ management displayed the following message on the LED screen behind the DJ booth: “There has been an incident, can everyone please bear with us.” The packed event was evacuated shortly thereafter.
In a statement, a Luna Springs spokesperson wrote, “We can confirm an incident occurred during an event at Luna Springs Birmingham on Saturday. We are working closely with the police and local authorities during this ongoing investigation. The safety and wellbeing of all our guests and staff remains our top priority.”
Cru2 also canceled the official afterparty for the event, sharing their decision on social media. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the afterparty for Cru2: The Birmingham Shutdown has been cancelled,” they wrote. “All ticket holders for the main event and afterparty will be contacted on Monday.”
The West Midlands Police launched an investigation that is still ongoing at the time of writing. A man in his 40s was arrested in connection to the incident, according to Birmingham Live, but authorities have nonetheless asked that anyone with footage of the incident contact them directly.
Founded in 2024, Cru2 specializes in drum and bass, UK garage, and bassline events. While perhaps best known for its Birmingham gatherings, it hosts parties elsewhere in the UK.
Luna Springs opened its doors in 2021. It can hold up to 3,000 attendees and is located on Lower Trinity Street in Digbeth, Birmingham.
