Apashe Releases Ukraine Tribute EP, ‘Hymns of Resilience’

Apashe honors Ukraine in his latest EP, Hymns of Resilience, which was recorded there during the height of the war.

Belgian-born, Canadian-based producer Apashe has carved a niche lane for himself in the electronic music world with his cinematic, genre-blurring sound that blends hip-hop and bass with orchestral instrumentation.

His latest effort is Hymns of Resilience, a three-track EP created in collaboration with Ukranian musician Alina Pash as well as a local choir and chamber orchestra in tribute to a nation entering its fifth year of war in February. The entire EP was produced and recorded in Ukraine. It makes a powerful artistic statement that reflects both the challenges and enduring spirit of life there.

While working on this project in Kyiv, we were under shelling, a stark reminder of what daily life looks like there. For ten days, we lived it: sleeping in shelters during bombings, witnessing the physical destruction, and experiencing firsthand the toll it takes on people’s mental well-being.

The project is deeply personal to Apashe, who said he played many shows in Ukraine early in his career and formed a deep connection with the fans and other artists there. The invasion started days before he was meant to perform in Ukraine, and he finally returned there in summer 2025, where he said the project was recorded as air raids were happening overhead.

Despite witnessing firsthand the toll taken by the war, Apashe said, “The resilience, strength, and creative drive of the artists we worked with is unwavering.”

Accompanying the EP is a music video Apashe filmed for “Kyiv,” providing a powerful visual of what Ukranians are going through while also demonstrating how art and creativity can both prevail and stand as a form of resistance. “I hope this project helps amplify Ukrainian voices and offers a more honest perspective on what they’re living through,” he said. A portion of the EP’s royalties will also be donated to a charity called Children of Heroes which supports children who’ve lost their parents to the war.

Ultimately, Hymns of Resilience is a testament to the power of music as a medium for expression and connection. With his signature flair and expertise, Apashe crafted an immersive EP with high-level production that also has a meaningful purpose. The project stands testament to how music can be at once entertaining and inspirational, while making a real-world impact beyond the music itself.

Jaclyn Sersland

Jaclyn’s journey as a raver began in 2022, but her obsession with music dates back to her middle school days as an angsty emo kid. A firm believer in the emo to raver pipeline, she has found a strong sense of community in the rave scene united by a common ethos of PLUR and a shared love for heavy basslines. A longtime writer and now Master’s in Journalism student at Georgetown University, Jaclyn is passionate about using her voice to spotlight the EDM scene. In particular, she enjoys writing about drum and bass, the number 1 favorite genre of hers, although her music taste spans wide so you will catch her byline on many types of stories.
