Lane 8 drops off another load of IDs and curated gems from Oneohtrix Point Never, Ninajirachi, Nitrous Oxide, Le Youth, Dusky, and more for the Winter 2025 Mixtape.
The start of each passing season has been marked by a gift from Lane 8 in the form of his quarterly mixtape series. Unlike his usual performances, which center on much of his own music, these mixtapes offer a glimpse into the mind of the This Never Happened label boss. Each serves as a snapshot of which soundscapes he’s fallen in love with most, many of which might not fit into his traditional sets, and offers a taste of what’s to come from him and the label itself.
As the year comes to a close, Lane 8 has now dropped off the official Winter 2025 Mixtape, which clocks in at nearly three hours. Found inside are 43 tracks, some of which are IDs that will hopefully be revealed in the coming months, while others are curated gems that add to the immersive ambiance that this progressive maestro set out to create.
The first minutes of the mix are defined by selections from Oneohtrix Point Never and Golan Zocher, along with two gorgeous IDs, one of which is a collaboration between Lane 8 and Kasbo. That initial part of the ride really sets the tone for the rest of the journey, as the This Never Happened boss offers up everything from Calcou’s “Closer” and Ninajirachi’s “All I Am” to Nitrous Oxide’s “Stardust” and Dusky’s “Lord Of The Ring Roads” along the journey. Of course, there’s a hearty helping of IDs beyond those first two, with 12, including one from Le Youth, found throughout the mix’s runtime.
