UK DJ duo Sigma have spent 2025 embarking on a new journey and returning to their underground roots. Day One is the perfect start to their new chapter.
After decades of establishing themselves within the drum and bass and jungle scene, DJ duo Sigma return with their fourth studio album, their first as independent artists. Day One, released on their new Day Ones imprint, serves as a creative reset and a return to the underground.
Filled with thirteen songs and one funny skit, this album is innovative and nostalgic. Day One seamlessly blends its way through drum and bass, jungle, jump up, dancehall, and beyond. There’s also a bevy of collaborators, with newcomers like Julia Church and SACHA joining established artists like Izzy Bizu, Danny Byrd, Stefflon Don, and Dynamite MC on a variety of tracks.
“Sometimes you’ve got to take it back to your roots and reconnect with why you started in the first place. That’s exactly what this project has been for us. We are in full control of the sound, the energy, the vision. This is DAY ONE.

Lead single “Chargie” sets the tone of the album — and, by extension, the label. A delicious mix of ’90s jungle, grime, and DnB, it features vocals from badmen Scrufizzer and Jamakabi. It’s heavy, gritty, evocative, and contemporary all at the same time.
Contrary to the name, “R U Sleeping” ensures everyone’s wide awake and paying attention. The grimiest of grime, this collaboration sees veteran Dizzee Rascal going bar for bar with Sheffield’s Coco over dark DnB rollers reminiscent of Sigma’s early days.
Tracks like “Magnetic,” “Only You,” “Outtaspace,” and “Wildfire” feature ethereal vocals interlaced with Sigma’s aggressive syncopated rhythms. They’re melodic and emotional while still being dancefloor heaters.
Even more nostalgic is “Skit (It Went Off)” with Ambrose. Now we’re really back at the rave! Some poor chap’s off his ass, really enjoying the music, and it’s been forever memorialized in this soundbyte. It showcases Sigma’s playful side, and I am here for it!
Day One is like a liberating trip down memory lane. It’s Sigma’s declaration of independence and an homage to their roots. Though the duo spent some time in the mainstream, they never forgot where they came from. Day One is a look at their past, present, and future.
If you didn’t get a chance to listen to Sigma back when they first debuted, now’s your chance! Stream Day One on Spotify or your preferred platform and keep up with the duo’s social media to hear what they come up with next.
