Protect your hearing and light up the dancefloor with LUMENEARZ Aura earplugs. They’re a fun, affordable way to get great sound and great style.
LUMENEARZ leads much of its marketing with the importance of quartz filters, so I went down the rabbit hole to learn more. The online chatter about these ‘quartz filters’ was quiet, but what really matters is how they perform when the bass drops. And let me tell you, the LUMENEARZ Aura HiFi Earplugs absolutely delivered, and they did it with style.
When LUMENEARZ sent me the Aura model to test, the first thing I noticed after opening the box was the beautiful compact case that also serves to charge the earbud LED lights. Many earplugs I’ve reviewed had either larger or clumsy cases, and those didn’t even need internal batteries, so this was a refreshing twist. The next thing I noticed was a whole smorgasbord of different eartip sizes and styles to fit nearly anyone’s ears. I typically wear the out-of-the-box medium silicon eartips, so I didn’t think I’d need to dive into these, but was happy to see them for others.
Hearing is how we experience music, emotion, connection. It’s everything. LUMENEARZ protects that, without dulling the sound or the vibe. Crystal clear sound. Festival-ready style. It’s protection that enhances the moment.

Turns out that either the medium silicon tips that LUMENEARZ uses are smaller than the ones I’m used to, or because the earplugs are a little larger and heavier due to the onboard LEDs, the stock tips simply didn’t hold the Aura’s tightly in my ears. It took a few attempts, but I ultimately settled on the large foam tips for the best and most comfortable fit. I’ve worn these for about 50 hours over eight different events, and they never fell out and never felt uncomfortable. For context, I think the longest I wore them continuously was about six hours.
I’ve written a number of articles on hearing protection over the years, and I will almost always reach for my custom-fit earplugs. However, let’s be real, $200 for earplugs is a huge ask for most of us. When I’m not wearing my customs, I’ll likely reach for a set of Earpeace Music Pro earplugs, which retail around $40. These aren’t specifically stylish, but they are excellent sound filters with exceptional comfort. Another popular option at a similar price point is one of the many Loop Earplugs, especially for those seeking a more stylish option.
The Lumenearz Aura combines sound, style, and comfort for around $60, which is still quite approachable, especially when you consider the onboard electronics. If you want to turn heads and add to your festival fit, the Aura is where it’s at.

The LED lights on the LUMENEARZ models are a novel idea, and it’s impressive that they fit these into a compact and lightweight earplug.
The pair I tested was a pre-production model, so there were a few limitations, but the LEDs were impressive and fun nonetheless. My model had four “light modes,” which were effectively three different solid colors and one that matched the beat of the music.
I had trouble controlling mine because a single tap would change the mode, but I’ve been informed that the production model requires a double-tap to avoid this confusion. While I’d love to see a simple phone app that tells me which mode is on (since I can’t see them when they are in my ears) and the ability to make changes, I’m no engineer and don’t know if this is a reasonable request. Regardless, I got a lot of compliments from other ravers about the “lights in my ears,” all the while protecting myself from long-term hearing loss.
As I mentioned earlier, the case for carrying/charging/storage is compact and pretty impressive. Not only was it easy to carry, but it was great to know that any time the Aura’s weren’t in my ears, they’d be topping up the charge. I never once ran out of battery life while in use (I think I only got down to 50% during my six-hour stretch), and during two different three-day festivals I never had to plug in the case to recharge, either. This was a nice bonus that I truly didn’t expect.
Whether you are looking for a better audio experience, longevity for your own hearing, or enhanced vibe and style at your next rave or festival, the LUMENEARZ Aura is a terrific choice!
