HEYZ heads to Bassrush Records to drop off heavy wubs and welcome everyone into the latest era of his sound with the four-track HEYZ’D And Confused EP.
Consistent sonic evolution and a fun-loving attitude have helped define HEYZ‘s career so far in the scene. This Denver-based producer might’ve started in techno, but recent years have seen him embrace heavier dubstep beats. This led to his releases on labels ranging from Bite This! and Circus Records to Deadbeats and, now, Bassrush Records. The latter of those imprints is where he’s put his focus on the most this summer as he geared up to release his latest EP, HEYZ’D And Confused, which is now out across all platforms.
‘HEYZ’D And Confused’ is exactly how I feel 90% of the time. It’s my favorite kind of chaos; fun, unpredictable, a little unhinged, but it still hits you right in the soul. This EP is me pushing my sound further and opening a new era of the HEYZ project. If I could bottle up the feeling of getting immersed at a show with your favorite people, this would be it. Hope you get lost in it, too.
HEYZ
Four tracks from the depths of HEYZ’s distorted mind grace the tracklist of his latest EP, and each one is bursting at the seams with heavy bass energy that’s fit for his upcoming appearances at festivals like Lost Lands. Previously released single “Onomono” was the first taste of what would be in store from the rest of the release as he teamed up with Dubbygotbars to offer a dose of deep, grimy wubs and a flourish of hip-hop for added effect. Yet there’s plenty more to explore on the EP’s other three tunes.
The EP’s title track sees HEYZ open the ride in a cinematic manner with a vocal sample and piano melody guiding you straight into a drop filled with distortion and warped elements that hit hard. “Demons” defines itself with rap vocals before distorted low-end pulses and intense cuts arrive to slice and dice you on the dancefloor. The final tune, “Fantasy,” sees HEYZ switch things up just a tad with airy female vocals layered over an atmospheric soundscape before you’re dropped straight into a subterranean realm filled with deep, modulated bass warbles and other elements that play into the track’s slow-burning nature.
