DJ DIESEL collaborates with Virtual Riot, LAYZ, IVORY, SampliFire, GorillaT, Perry Wayne, Benda, RZRKT, NEOTEK, and FRAXURE on his latest EP, M.D.E.

Shaquile O’Neal, known in the dubstep world as DJ DIESEL, has long used his massive platform to spotlight the next generation of bass music heavyweights. His sets are as much about breaking necks as they are about breaking new artists, and in the process, he’s built a community grounded on mutual respect, shared passion, and a relentless drive to push the genre forward. Many of the producers he’s championed over the years now take center stage on his new EP, M.D.E (which stands for Most Dominant Ever), released today on Monstercat.

This project is bigger than just music. M.D.E is a celebration of the culture, of the moshpit, of the bass community. Every artist on here brought the heat, and together we made something that hits hard and brings people together. That is what this scene is all about.

Shaq lends his vocals to all nine tracks on the EP, which unite ten artists across dubstep, drum and bass, and trap. The titular track, “M.D.E” with RZRKT, kicks off the album on a high note, featuring a steadily intensifying buildup that creates a mounting sense of anticipation before plunging into a relentless dubstep drop.

Next on the EP is “Animal” featuring Samplifire and IVORY. Shaq commands attention with a powerful rap verse, setting the stage for a brutal tearout drop engineered to unleash pure energy in the mosh pits.

The next two tracks see DJ DIESEL pushing his creative boundaries by exploring drum and bass. “Damage” featuring Virtual Riot kicks off with an acoustic guitar intro that flows into Shaq rapping alongside a trap-infused rhythmic buildup before dropping into a high-impact wave of drum and bass. The fusion of styles feels natural and perfectly balanced, making the whole track impossible not to move to. Meanwhile, “Run It” with IVORY is a technically sharp, heavy-hitting neurofunk DnB track packed with robotic synths.

“Pay Respect” featuring GorillaT and FRAXURE is a powerful demonstration of dubstep and trap brought together. Then, “BRING THE PAIN” with LAYZ offers a similarly impactful collision of styles, this time shifting from heavy dubstep into pounding hard techno.

The last three tracks on M.D.E — “Fadeaway” featuring Benda, “Throwin Blows‘” featuring Perry Wayne, and “Show Em” with NEOTEK — showcase the producers’ razor-sharp sound design skills. These high-octane tracks build with ferocity before collapsing into drops meant for festival stages.

M.D.E expertly captures the energy and raw power which has driven modern dubstep into mainstream prominence. With this EP, DJ DIESEL not only spotlights bass music’s hottest talent but also reaffirms his role as a dominant and influential figure in the scene.
