Adam Beyer, Chris Avantgarde Deliver Introspective Single, "Desolate Lands"

Sitting at the midway point between Adam Beyer and Chris Avantgarde‘s distinctive sound signatures is the cerebral “Desolate Lands.” Out now on the former artist’s Drumcode imprint, it’s the first of what one can only imagine will be numerous collaborations between the two artists.

Even in the early bars of stripped-down mixing runway, “Desolate Lands” makes a lasting impression as smoldering basses come in. Accompanying the song’s simple yet effective lead synths are subtle chopped vocals and cinematic atmospheres. But there’s an it-factor that’s harder to put your finger on. It carries the momentum of the single from beginning to end.

Adam Beyer needs no introduction among techno fans. The Swedish DJ, producer, and label boss emerged in the mid-1990s and has remained a constant fixture of the dance music underground. His style of techno nowadays can be heard on recent releases such as Do It For The Bass and Explorer Vol. 1.

The comparatively recent breakthrough of Chris Avantgarde (real name Christian Vornweg) makes the German talent an ideal fit for an Adam Beyer collaboration. Closely associated with Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label and event brand, he brings an accessible and larger-than-life element to everything he touches. Vornweg is also a label boss in his own right, running his own imprint called VNTGRD.
