Giuseppe Ottaviani Releases Debut Album as OTTAGON

Giuseppe Ottaviani is welcoming the scene into the world of OTTAGON with the release of his debut album under the alias, Eight.

Among the true visionaries in the trance music scene is Italian DJ and producer Giuseppe Ottaviani. This renowned artist has made a name for himself over the years by delivering everything from gorgeous soundscapes that have left crowds breathless to those that fill you with energy to keep you dancing all night. Last year saw him take a step forward in a new direction with the debut of his OTTAGON alias at Dreamstate SoCal, and today, his debut album under that moniker has been unveiled for the world to hear.

The OTTAGON live performances feature Ottaviani on stage with eight Novation MIDI keyboards around him in an octagon, and the album’s name, Eight, keeps the theme front and center. Out now via Armada Music, this 12-track release from the trance maestro sees him marry elements from the genre he’s called home for decades with the modern melodic techno style that’s boomed forward in recent years.

This project is all about exploring deeper connections between trance and melodic techno and offering fans something fresh and exciting. I’m hugely proud and excited to share with the world.

Giuseppe Ottaviani

Each tune on Eight is masterfully produced, giving listeners uplifting moments for reflection, sublime melodies that will sweep them off their feet, and just enough power to keep you grooving along to the beat. “Dust” with Lake Silver opens the journey, providing a strong vocal performance over the already immersive soundscape to help usher in the rest of the ride. Three more vocal-driven tracks arrive throughout the runtime of Eight—”The One” with Lilly Ahlberg, “Right Now” with SGNLS, and “Without You” with Adriana Stone—all of which are brilliant.

In the bulk of the soundscapes, Giuseppe Ottaviani shows off what OTTAGON is all about as he flexes his production skills and merges two worlds. Tracks like “We Are Free,” “Follow your heart,” “The Kraken,” and “The Rhythm” are firmly rooted in trance yet feature flourishes of progressive and melodic techno elements that you can’t help but ignore. In fact, if you’re someone who loves melodic techno, you’ll certainly love these tunes as they’d fit right into a set from an act like Anyma or any other contemporary artist in that space.

If there were one track that stood out the most, it would be “Are We Dreaming.” From the punchy drum rolls and breakbeat to the floating melody and breathy vocal sample, not to mention the banging drop, it’s a track you can’t help but fall in love with once it graces your ears.

Give Eight a listen on Spotify or your preferred platform, and follow Giuseppe Ottaviani’s social media channels to stay tuned for more.
