As with his previous album drop, Skrillex has leveraged the buzz around of his latest effort to promote a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
The EDM world is once again talking at length about Skrillex. Amid yesterday’s April Fools madness, he released a 34-track album — and now that all eyes (and ears) are on him, he’s revealed plans to return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on May 13 to play a five-hour DJ set.
If this sounds familiar, that’s because it is. In February 2023, Skrillex (real name Sonny Moore) released two albums in close succession before announcing at the end of the following month that he would perform for five hours at Red Rocks. The event sold out almost immediately, and those fortunate enough to attend spoke fondly of the experience curated by the time-tested hitmaker.
Ever since he dropped the My Name is Skrillex EP in 2010, Moore’s unique songwriting and sound design have greatly influenced a new generation of producers — especially those belonging to the bass music category. While his 2023 albums largely showed him eschewing the growling bass sounds that first made him famous, they have reappeared in his latest effort.
If his upcoming five-hour set is anything like his latest album, Red Rocks will be the best place for it. Nearby Denver is well known as the “Bass Capital” among EDM enthusiasts, and the venue’s natural acoustics and stunning sandstone backdrop have made it a favorite among music fans of all walks.
Tickets to Skrillex’s five-hour DJ set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 13 go on sale Friday, April 4 at 1pm. More information will be available at that time on the Red Rocks website.
