Julian Gray flexes his production skills and showcases soul-stirring soundscapes with the release of his debut artist album, CONTRAST.

Los Angeles-based artist Julian Gray is a man of many talents. While he’s done everything from video production to running Graydient Collective, where he’s genuinely shined over the years has been as a DJ and producer. Look into Julian Gray’s discography and you’ll find a vast array of singles and EPs that found a home on labels ranging from Anjunabeats to mau5trap and more. Yet one thing was missing amongst all the releases: a full-length album.

This week, Julian Gray checked that box off for himself as his debut artist album, CONTRAST, finally saw the light of day. Out now via Graydient Collective, this seven-track release features soundscapes fans have patiently waited to bask in for months. A glimpse arrived with lead single “Out Here,” which saw him team up with Richard Patrick of Filter, while the most considerable taste arrived at Dreamstate SoCal where he opened the Dream stage on a rainy Saturday. Now, the entire album can be heard from the comfort of your home.

The tracks that make up CONTRAST are rooted in an era when Julian Gray found his footing again as a producer. According to him, he had “hit a wall” in 2023 after constantly chasing labels and working to grow the project. Yet that slight roadblock was opened up when he attended a writing camp and the music began to flow from his mind once again. The result of these sessions is some of his best tracks to date.

Standouts include previously released singles “PRAY” and “Fate Of Us,” the latter of which marries his gorgeous progressive house melodies with the voice of Midnite Amity for an intoxicating soundscape. The feature with Ash Nova, “Don’t Go Away,” is also simply stunning, as are “Eclipse” and the album’s bookend track, “Dawn,” all three of which make CONTRAST feel complete.

Listen to CONTRAST on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more by following Julian Gray’s social channels.
