Self-reflection is the central theme that Jan Blomqvist explores in his latest studio album to land on Disconnected and Armada Music, MUTE.

Boundary-pushing electronic music artist Jan Blomqvist continues to age like a fine wine. Whether he’s producing some of the most gorgeous soundscapes or performing them live for the masses at festivals and other venues, you can’t help but ignore this pioneer’s prowess. He draws inspiration from the world around him, especially while on tour, and the downtime during his most recent adventure was spent creating the tracks that have now found a home on his latest album, MUTE.

MUTE is a concept album from Jan Blomqvist that sees him dive into the depths of his mind to explore thought-provoking questions and channel them into tracks featuring reflective lyricism with a flourishing energy. Unlike the hyper-connectivity-centered album Disconnected, his third body of work urges listeners to welcome moments of quiet introspection in this otherwise chaotic world. Its 12 tracks open the doors to a story of self-discovery and the highs and lows experienced along the way.

We’re living in a world where listening has become a lost art. MUTE is about finding your inner voice amidst all the madness and noise.

The soft, swirling intro on “Left Unsaid” burns slowly as MUTE begins. The opener builds with power as the seconds tick away before transitioning into “Underwater,” immediately placing you straight on a dancefloor to help you find your groove. This is just the beginning of the mind-warping journey into one’s self, as Jan Blomqvist brings in collaborators for the following three tunes. “Destination Lost” with Rodriguez Jr., “Midnight Sun” with Natascha Polke, and “Stranded” with Bondi are all simply stunning, with lush layers of synths, vocals, and more to create a magical ambiance.

As you approach the album’s close, the final three tunes all see Jan Blomqvist put his production prowess on display. “Traceless Tracks” features soul-stirring vocals with a deep, bumping beat, “Muted Mind” lets you soar among the clouds before bringing you back down to Earth, and “So It Is etc.” offers a chilled atmosphere that will wrap you in its embrace.

Listen to MUTE on Spotify or your preferred platform, catch him on the album tour this year, and follow Jan Blomqvist on his social channels.
