Monstercat and Hospital Records Join Forces for Fresh Compilation

The drum and bass sounds from the UK and Canada have collided as Hospital Records and Monstercat joined forces to bring a new, eight-track compilation to life.

Two labels that have solidified their place at the top of the scene by pushing quality releases to the forefront over the years are Monstercat and Hospital Records. Canadian imprint Monstercat has been churning and burning by dropping tunes from various genres while taking over festival stages and striking up partnerships with gaming brands. Meanwhile, UK label Hospital Records has delivered top-tier drum and bass tracks, events, and more for nearly three decades. Now, the two have joined forces to create a new compilation for fans to feast their ears on.

Monstercat x Hospital Records is a fresh compilation that marries the two behemoth imprints and packs a punch with drum and bass sounds that will ignite a fire in your soul and stir up some emotions along the way. Born from a writing camp hosted by the two imprints at TYX Studios in London in February of last year, eight of the demos have now seen a full release, and they’re marvelous.

The compilation begins with P Money, Whiney, and hayve delivering a dose of energy on “99 Octane.” This grime-infused tune features a wicked lyrical flow over its booming beat for a soundscape perfect to immerse yourself in as you’re speeding around town in your car. That wasn’t all that hayve had to offer on this compilation, as two other tracks, “What Are We Proving” with DRIIA and “IDGAF” with Anaïs, also pack quite a punch.

Canadian artist Bensley also brings the heat on two tracks in this compilation. First, he teamed up with Waeys and Hoax for “Twerp,” which begins with a stripped-back atmosphere before exploding for a drop that will infect your mind. The second, “Starchild,” brings BOP and Degs into the mix to blend soulful vocals with chord progressions that hit you right in your core for an uplifting ride you can’t help but listen to at least twice.

Rounding out the compilation are Protostar, Subten, and Purple Velvet Curtains with “Renegade,” DNMO and SOLAH with “Find Peace,” and BOP, Subwave, and imallryt with “Unforgettable.” All three are must-listens if you want to hear diverse takes on drum and bass that range from buttery smooth liquid grooves to energetic rides that power forward.
